Does my skin need toner?

Are toners really important as a separate step in skin care? What does toner actually do and why should you use it? There is hardly a step that does not fall out of the beauty routine as often as toner. Many people now know about the benefits of serums, eye creams, or moisturizers, and almost everyone knows you need to remove makeup properly, but why should you also use a toner? At what point do you actually use it?
Of course, there are a huge number of different toners, which basically also have different benefits for the skin, but in general it can be said that the toner can be used immediately after cleansing the face as the first step of the skincare routine.
The toner is designed to regulate the pH level of the skin after cleansing and the first exposure to moisture. Some toners contain active ingredients directly, such as glycolic acid or retinol.
The toner has a consistency almost like water, odorless and leaves a feeling of well-groomed, without weighing down the skin at all and without sticking it together. Thus, this toner is ideal for anyone new to the topic of “toner” and do not know where to start. Thanks to its lightweight composition, it is suitable for all skin types and offers the ideal foundation for a routine facial, tailored to the needs of your skin. Once you've tried it, you won't want to go without toner! In Korean skin care, there is even a full-fledged routine model, the so-called "7 layers" method, in which 7 layers of nourishing toner are applied on top of each other and nothing else. This should provide a particularly well-hydrated skin and a natural glow. For some, this method is much more effective than the classic one: toner, essence, serum, ampoule, moisturizer, etc.
Korean skin care is renowned for its layering technique. This means you apply a variety of skincare products to your skin, from watery or liquid to rich and oily. After you've cleansed your face, you can start using the toner to prepare your skin for the next steps in your skincare routine. Here, the skin is moisturized, cleansed, softened or tightened. The toner allows the valuable active ingredients and subsequent products to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and thus fully reveal their effect.
There are now 2 ways to use toner:
1. Traditional method:
Apply toner to face with palms and apply gently with fingertips. (You can also use a cotton pad to apply)
2. Mask method:
Moisten a few thin cotton pads with toner and leave them on your face for more than 20 minutes.
