Beta-glucan and its effects on our skin

Beta-glucans, referred to as β-glucans, are polysaccharides (several sugars). It can be found in yeast, bacteria, fungi, seaweed, and grains. Beta-glucan does not occur naturally in the body. So why should you use it?
Beta-glucan is very good at moisturizing because it pulls water into the upper layers of the skin. It supports the skin barrier, smooths the skin and has antioxidant properties. It is especially recommended for people with a weakened skin barrier and sensitive skin, although beta-glucan is good for everyone.
What are the benefits of beta-glucan in skin care?
Prevents skin damage: can help protect your skin from aging or sun damage. (Which doesn't mean you don't need to apply sunscreen anymore!)
It repairs skin: some studies show that it supports skin healing for dermatitis, eczema, minor wounds and burns.
Supports the skin barrier: Beta-glucan molecules form a thin barrier on the surface of the skin. This strengthens the natural skin barrier, which protects the skin from environmental damage and dehydration. If you're struggling with redness, irritation or dryness, you should definitely try beta-glucan!
Boosts immunity: beta-glucan can protect the skin's natural flora from invading bacteria. It works by stimulating macrophages, which fight pathogens that, in turn, can cause infections. This is why beta-glucan is especially recommended for people with dry, rough or chapped skin. If you have a weakened skin barrier, eczema or dermatitis, beta-glucan can help your skin protect itself from invading viruses and pathogens.
Deeply Hydrating Skin: Beta-glucan acts as a skin moisturizer, holding moisture levels in the skin and preventing moisture loss. Hyaluronic acid is similar in structure to beta-glucan, but beta-glucan is 20% more moisturizing than hyaluronic acid.
Anti-aging Benefits: Beta-glucan can help to firm skin and thus visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It can also prevent skin aging by moisturizing the skin.
How do I use beta-glucan?
If your skin has more of it than it needs, is irritated, or you're just curious, you can incorporate beta-glucan into every step of your skin care routine because beta-glucan has no ill effects!
So you can use it as often as you like! It works especially well with active ingredients like retinoids as well as other moisturizing ingredients. If you use it in your morning routine, then use sunscreen at the end of your routine, this will also protect your skin from the sun's rays.
