Niacinamide and its Benefits

Niacinamide, also known as nicotinamide, is a form of vitamin B3. The substance is water soluble, which means it is not naturally stored in the body, so it is important to replenish it. We can get niacinamide through the food we eat as well as through various skin care products. If you want to take advantage of the different benefits this ingredient brings, you can get it in the form of supplements or apply products directly to the skin.

Among other things, niacinamide has anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects, while also being rich in antioxidants and promoting skin cell renewal. The super ingredient also helps to strengthen the skin barrier without causing irritation. Antioxidants work to limit damage from free radicals and therefore prevent the appearance of early signs of aging. In addition, niacinamide helps to hydrate the skin. It prevents evaporation (loss of water from the skin) and actually increases the ability of other moisturizing ingredients to work better.

These properties make niacinamide an active ingredient that is very effective in treating various skin problems. Among other things, it works well for the following problems:

Pigmentation: Studies show that niacinamide prevents the formation of dark spots on the skin that can occur due to ultraviolet rays, for example.

Reduces impurities and enlarged pores: Niacinamide has an anti-inflammatory effect and therefore counteracts skin infections such as acne. It also helps to regulate sebum production and thus can reduce the appearance of pores.

Gives the skin a glow: Niacinamide contributes to the radiance of the skin's surface.

Niacinamide application

Some active ingredients are difficult to combine with others, but fortunately niacinamide is not one of them. Niacinamide combines well with most ingredients and can be used both morning and evening. However, vitamin C often has a lower pH value than niacinamide, which is useful to know if you want to use concentrated amounts of both ingredients. In this case, you should start with vitamin C, since it has a lower pH value, and wait until the product is fully absorbed before applying the product with niacinamide. However, these two ingredients are often found together in the same product because they work well together if combined correctly.
