Oily skin, despite slower aging and the formation of wrinkles, causes many problems for its owners. Without proper care, unwanted acne often appears on it. Therefore, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the main stages of proper care for oily skin.
Oily skin - characteristics
Oily skin is characterized by excessive secretion of sebum produced by the sebaceous glands. Sebum is very necessary for every skin type, because it protects it from water loss, environmental influences, pathogens and rapid aging. Despite these positive aspects of sebum secretion, in some people, the skin produces excess sebum. The result is a strong radiance of the skin and the formation of imperfections in the form of open and closed comedones, and sometimes inflammatory acne.
Oily skin needs
The main need of oily skin is to normalize excess sebum production and prevent the formation of imperfections.
How to take care of oily skin?
Oily skin - morning care
Step one - skin cleansing
Morning cleansing of oily skin should be based on the use of preparations in the form of a gel or foam. These cosmetic products, combined with water, emulsify the remains of evening care and sebum secreted at night. It is worth trying cosmetics containing, for example, salicylic acid, which is able to penetrate into the places of the sebaceous glands and have a slightly astringent effect. The result will be a decrease in the amount of sebum secreted by the sebaceous glands.
Step two - skin toning
Cleansers disrupt the physiological pH of the skin. At this point, restore the skin's natural response with a toner.
Step three - protection from harmful UV radiation
Both UVA and UVB radiation have adverse effects on the skin. It is a myth that the sun's rays "cure" or improve the condition of the skin.
Step four - delicate moisturizing combined with matting
Are moisturizers recommended for oily skin? In the case of this type of skin, it is necessary to combine proper hydration with matting of the skin so that it does not dry out.
Oily skin - evening care
Step one - evening skin cleansing
The skin after a whole day needs proper cleansing. In the case of oily skin, this step of care is the most important throughout the day. By properly cleansing the skin, we will avoid the formation of imperfections. If we're wearing makeup and/or sunscreen, it's worth doing a two-step cleansing of the skin. The first step is to use an oil product, which will dissolve all the "oily" impurities present on the skin. These are, for example, the remnants of sunscreen or decorative cosmetics. For this purpose, you can turn to hydrophilic oils. Afterward, use a facial cleanser or foam cleanser to cleanse your face of any remaining dirt and make-up.
At least once a week, it is worth exfoliating the skin of the face, for example, an enzyme peel.
Step two - skin toning
As with morning care. Use an exfoliating toner every 2-3 days.
Step three - nighttime skin hydration
In the case of evening care, you can get by with cosmetics a little more saturated than that used in the morning. All cosmetic products designed for oily skin are suitable here, but for use at night.
