Dry skin can be a big nuisance, but knowing its basic needs and using the right skin care regimen can effectively manage it. For dry skin of the face and body, the same phenomenon is characteristic: a large loss of water. As a result of this phenomenon, the layer of living keratinocytes is severely dehydrated. The skin becomes rough to the touch and itchy, which is additionally accompanied by a tingling and burning sensation. The skin can become dry as a result of improper care, but in most cases this is due to genetics.
Dry facial skin often causes more problems than the rest of the body. This is due to the fact that the face is most exposed to harmful external factors and changing weather conditions (temperature, humidity). In addition, makeup wearers often have a problem choosing the right cosmetics that won't aggravate dryness.
Step one - skin cleansing
In the morning, waking up, it is necessary to wash off the remnants of cosmetics applied to it at night. For this, in the case of dry skin, delicate foams for washing and preparations for washing atopic skin are suitable. They do not contain strong detergents that would break the hydro-lipid barrier of the skin.
Step Two - Skin Toning
After using a cleanser, the pH of the skin is disturbed. In order to bring it to a physiological value, use a facial toner. Moisturizing toners are great for dry skin. First, apply a small amount of toner to the palm of your hand, and then gently spread it over your face.
Step three - protection from harmful UV radiation
Sunscreens contain substances that protect against harmful UVA and UVB rays. Both types of radiation adversely affect the condition of the skin. It is recommended to use sunscreen throughout the year to prevent melanoma, as well as for a rejuvenating effect. In the case of dry skin, sunscreens and emulsions are suitable. In some cases, sunscreen cosmetics also have strong moisturizing properties, which can make it possible to skip the fourth step of morning care.
Optional: skin hydration
If your skin needs extra hydration, you can apply moisturizer before applying SPF cream.
Step one - evening skin cleansing
The skin after a whole day needs proper cleansing. If we're wearing makeup and/or sunscreen, it's worth doing a two-step cleansing of the skin. The first step is to use micellar water or another oil-based beauty product. The next step is to wash off the oily layer with a cleansing gel.
If you don't wear sunscreen, use a gentle foam or gentle facial cleansing gel.
Once a week or once every two weeks, a delicate enzyme peel should be performed. It is good to use a moisturizing face mask at least once a week.
Step Two - Skin Toning
As with morning care.
Step three - intense skin hydration
At this point, it is worth applying a moisturizing serum to the face, which will contain, for example, hyaluronic acid and ceramides. This serum can be applied daily or every other day - depending on the degree of dryness of the skin. Then apply a night moisturizer.
